HELP WANTED: 20 best job search websites

KUSA - PC Magazine recently published a list of the best job search web sites. Each of these sites takes different approaches to helping you find a job and there is no one site perfect for everyone.

9NEWS has compiled the list, and added to it, to give jobseekers a wide variety of links to choose from. Scroll through the list and pick your own favorites!

1) Beyond - www.beyond.com - claims to be the largest network of "niche career opportunities."

2) CareerBuilder - www.careerbuilder.com - partially owned by Gannett, the parent company of 9NEWS. The web site gets more than 23 million visitors a month.

3) Craigslist - www.craigslist.org - a site for people focused on searching for jobs within their local communities.

4) ExecuSearch - www.execu-search.com - a selective, higher-tier job search property.

5) Hound - www.hound.com - shows jobs from employer web sites only.

6) Indeed - www.indeed.com - works as an aggregator for listings from major job web sites.

7) JobCentral - www.jobcentral.com - a service formed by a non-profit consortium of big U.S. companies.

8) JobServe - www.jobserve.com - claims to be the "world's first" internet recruitment service.

9) LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com - a social network site for professionals. Highly recommended by local recruiters and job coaches.

10) Monster - www.monster.com - one of the best-known global job-listings site. Also offers resume and interviewing advice.

11) Oodle - www.oodle.com - specializes in online classifieds, including a job classifieds section.

12) onTargetjobs - www.ontargetjobs.com - owns a lot of smaller niche sites.

13) SimplyHired - www.simplyhired.com - aggregates listings from major job web sites.

14) SnagAJob - www.snagajob.com - its focus is on hourly employment only.

15) TheLadders - www.theladders.com - the site has branded itself as the place to look for $100k+ jobs.

16) Trovix - www.trovix.com - free search engine makes the job-search process more personalized.

17) TweetMyJobs - www.tweetmyjobs.com - supplies Twitter users with job listings that are derived from numerous channels.

18) USAJobs - www.usajobs.com - the official job site for the U.S. government.

19) Yahoo HotJobs - www.hotjobs.yahoo.com - one of the biggest job sites on the web.

20) Andrew Hudson's Jobs List - www.andrewhudsonsjobslist.com - a jobs site that focuses on local jobs for working professionals.

KCK job fair set

A Kansas City, Kan., job fair featuring several local employers will be held later this month at the Jack Reardon Convention Center.

Residents in search of a job will have an opportunity to make connections with key employers from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The first hour of the job fair will be available exclusively to military veterans.

The Unified Government, Hilton Garden Inn, Kansas Work, Kansas City Kansas Community College, Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools, The Builders' Association, Workforce Partnership and the YWCA of KCK will be among those at the job fair.

There's no cost to attend the event or employers who take part in the fair.
