Freehold Twp. solicits help from residents in job search Posted: 15 Dec 2010 07:24 PM PST FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The township school district is asking parents and community members to complete an online survey as the first step in the search for a new superintendent, according to the firm hired by the township's Board of Education to conduct the search. West Hudson Associates, an Ulster County, N.Y.-based consulting firm, was hired in November by the board to conduct the search for candidates. William Librera, a former New Jersey state commissioner of education, and Peter Bastardo, a former Freehold Township superintendent, will conduct the approximately five-month search for $9,000, district records show. The cost will cover the first phase of the firm's services, including the search and interview process. The board can opt at a later date to sign a new contract for the second phase's services, which would include transitioning the new superintendent into the district next year. Superintendent William Setaro, 62, will retire in June after a 40-year career in education. He has been the superintendent since 2006. An anonymous online survey for parents, community members and school staff to offer their thoughts on the district and role of the superintendent is the first step in the search process, according to the schedule presented by the firm to the board Tuesday. The survey became available on the district's website Wednesday, and will run through Jan. 2. After the survey is completed by residents, the firm will hold separate forums with teachers, administrators and the public on Jan. 10 to solicit more input on what the district should look for in a new superintendent. The forum for the public will be held at 7 p.m. at the West Freehold school, 100 Castranova Way off Stillwells Corner Road. West Hudson Associates also is conducting the search for the Freehold Regional High School District's new superintendent, for which they are being paid $15,000 for both phases of the firm's services. Following the community outreach phase of the search, the firm will advertise for candidates throughout the region and conduct preliminary interviews with applicants. The board is expected to conduct final interviews in March and reach a decision in early April.
