Job outlook for 2011 |
| Posted: 29 Dec 2010 06:43 PM PST BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - It may be time to dust off your resume and jump start your job search, because economists say 2011 may be the year of the job. Economists are predicting the economy will continue to grow and get stronger, and more companies will start hiring new employees. "We've seen in the last two months a significant increase in hiring of full time workers," said UAB Economist Dr. Bob Robicheaux, "That is a good trend." The latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey confirms employers in Alabama are planning to hire more employees in 2011. Of all the employers interviewed, 14% say they plan to increase staff levels, while only 9% say they plan to decrease staff levels. Dr. Robicheaux agreed full-time hiring may be slow at first, but it will happen. "We'll probably see some businesses hanging on to part time workers, because that gives them flexibility," said Dr. Robicheaux, "That is a phase before revamping and hiring large numbers."
