Graduates Could Face A Potentially Longer Job Search - 5/23/2010

With an uncertain economy graduates could face a potentially longer job search than those from previous years. Many new graduates of Ohio Northern University remain upbeat on their chances of finding employment in their field of study even in a down economy. It's estimated that the jobless rate for 16 to 29 year olds is the highest it's been since 1948. Katie Elsass of Lafayette studied forensic biology at ONU and has already started her job search. Kevin Grassman of Gahanna believes he'll have a new job in manufacturing technology within six months and he thinks the guidance he received from career services at the campus will help. Justin Courtney heads the career services program at ONU. He stays in touch with seniors as they approach graduation in an effort to help them find employment. Elsass and Grassman were among two of nearly 600 students receiving diplomas Sunday at Ohio Northern.
