Posted: 30 Apr 2010 08:42 AM PDT CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the first time, an on-line virtual job fair will be held where applicants can make a "20-second Video Introduction™" and send it to recruiters. The event is scheduled May 6th and several nationally known companies such as The virtual career fair is free, and you can sign up now at http://www.myjstn.com/vcf/ for the event and get updates. The technology for video resumes was developed by Job Search Television Network (JSTN) a recruitment-focused television channel. The company offers high quality video news of job openings, career advice from recruitment professionals, and company profiles distributed on their TV channel, their website www.myjstn.com, mobile devices, and through all social networks. The technology allows job seekers to meet with recruiters "face to face" on their computers and to create a 20-second "JSTN Video Introduction™" in addition to a traditional resume. "The video introduction allows candidates to put a more personal touch than can be done with just a traditional paper resume," said Lindsay Stanton, VP of Sales and Strategy for JSTN. "Recruiters tell us it helps them better identify candidates and job seekers tell us it helps them make a stronger impression," said Stanton. JSTN began broadcasting in Chicago in 2008, and now is seen in several major cities across the country including the Boston and San Francisco regions. The channel uses a "CNN-type" format with an anchor to provide 60-second job reports that people can TEXT ID to their cell phone or look up on-line at www.myjstn.com for more information or to apply directly. The channel also features interviews and video segments on company opportunities, job benefits, products and services, workplace culture and more. JSTN has also created www.PowerMyCareer.com in cooperation with some of the nation's largest career management and coaching firms. The site is free, and offers a wide array of expert career advice on videos ranging from how to interview successfully to writing business e-mails.
